How to be more consistent in life.

In this article, I will explain what consistency is. You have probably heard that consistency is the key to success and that successful people always remain consistent. Consistent simply means to repeat the same thing over and over again until the goal has been achieved.


Let's take an example of a skinny person. He decided to go to the gym to build muscles and become fit. He went to the gym daily and do the required exercises and ate a healthy diet. He does the same thing over and over again until he has desired results. He has been able to achieve his goals by being consistent.

I hope, I was able to give you a quick overview of what consistency is. Now, we will discuss how you can work on your consistency so that you can also achieve your goals and get your desired results.

How to become more consistent in life

1. Practice habits

The best way to develop consistency is by practicing different types of habits. I think this is the base of consistency. Practicing habits can really help you to become more consistent in life.

Now, the question is, "How can you build a habit?"

There are some ways that will surely help you to build a certain habit. Some are : 

a) Set reminders

The best way to practice a habit is by setting reminders. Set reminders for yourself as it is a new habit that you are practicing. It is very easy to forget because you are changing your lifestyle and trying something new. So, the first thing that you can do to build a habit is you can set reminders for yourself. 


b) Reward yourself

Assume, you are building a habit of reading books. If you complete the task for one day, reward yourself. By doing this, you will feel motivated to do the same thing the next day.

c) Set realistic goals

Set easy goals for you first because it will be hard for you if you focus on the hard goals. Reading 30 minutes daily is an easy goal to start with because I think anybody can read for at least up to 30 minutes. Set realistic goals that you know you will achieve, that way you will feel more motivated. 

2. Work on your mindset

Everything depends on your mindset whether it is big or small. We can achieve anything if we have a winner-like mindset. Mindset is nothing but the way you think. You attract things into your life according to your thoughts. If you have positive thoughts, then you will attract positive things in your life. Just focus on your mindset. 


I know, it is not easy to completely change your mindset immediately. Of course, it takes time. You have to give yourself time to focus on your mindset. Try different things and figure out what works best for you.

Changing your mindset is not a one-day thing, it's a process. You have to cut out your limiting beliefs to work on your mindset effectively. By limiting beliefs, I mean, suppose you have a belief that anything you do, you can't be consistent. This is your limiting belief. Cut out that limiting belief because your mind is so powerful. 

You know you want to achieve big dreams, you want to do a lot in your life, but then you start thinking about these things and start worrying, you start thinking about all the reasons why this is not possible. Here, you are thinking negatively. You have to change that and start changing your mindset for the good of your life.

3. Reward yourself

Reward yourself on a regular basis when you achieve a specific goal. It is very important to help you feel motivated. For example, if you have a goal of doing exercise 5 times a week, then you should reward yourself when you complete one day, that way you will feel motivated to do exercise the next day.


This reward can be anything either your favorite food or you can visit your favorite place, depending on you. By rewarding yourself, you can be more consistent in life and be able to achieve the end goal that you have been working for. You can reward yourself according to your preference because everyone has different choices. Brainstorm your mind and look for different and amazing ideas to reward or pamper yourself. 

4. Choose progress over perfection

You already know that nobody is perfect. Everyone has flaws. You can't be perfect because it is not the human tendency to be perfect and there is no such thing called perfection. 

Instead of focusing on perfection, choose progress. If you chase perfection, you will feel demotivated because you can never be satisfied with your work if you want perfection. Instead of focusing on perfection, measure your progress over time and see how much you have achieved. That way, it will become easier for you to become more consistent in your life. 

If you are developing a new skill by being consistent, then focus on making progress. It will surely help you to make improvements from day one. 

Now the question is, "How can you focus on progress?"

Here are some tips : 

a) First, decide on a skill that you want to learn. Remember, one skill at one time.

b) Make a list of things how you will learn that skill and break it down into smaller goals.

c) Take action on that goal, and try different things.

d) You will see, that you are making progress if you are doing things consistently.


5. Get enough sleep

Sleep gives you the energy to do work. If you want to become more consistent, it is very important to have the energy to do so. If you don't get enough sleep, then you will not have the energy to do your work. Therefore, it is very important to get enough sleep in order to become more consistent in your life. 

If you want to be more consistent in your life, it's important to have a better sleep.

There are some tips to have a better sleep:

a) Stay away from your phone before you go to sleep.

b) Stay away from caffeine late in the evening, as caffeine helps you to give some energy, and it will become hard for you to go to bed early. 

c) Try to go to bed at the same time daily. Regular sleep patterns can help you to have a better sleep.

d) Relax your mind before going to sleep. You can meditate in order to relax your mind.

6. Take a 30-day challenge

If you want to be more consistent in your life, then take a 30-day challenge. When you decide to do something consistently for a longer period of time, it can become overwhelming for you and you start postponing it for later. So, it's better for you to start small and do things for a limited time, then extend it.


Assume, you want to learn a skill that will help you in your personal growth. Learn that skill for 30 days consistently. When you finish all the 30 days, then you can extend the timeline. That way, you can become more consistent in your life.

If a 30-day challenge seems hard for you, then you can take a 7 days challenge. Do the thing for 7 days with dedication. After 7 days, you can extend the timeline. Just remember, you have to stay dedicated in order to become more consistent in your life. 

7. Keep going even if you make mistakes

Even the most intelligent and smartest person makes mistakes, so don't worry if you commit mistakes. Learn from your mistakes and make progress in life. You can't progress in life if you don't learn from your mistakes. Mistakes help you to evolve your growth. Making mistakes is a normal part of life, it is bound to happen.

As you already know, everyone makes mistakes. The most important thing is to accept our mistakes, instead of dwelling on them. Accept that you made a mistake and learn from it so that you won't make the same mistake again in the future. 

"How can you learn from your mistakes?"

a) Accept your mistake

Accept the fact that you made a mistake. Own your mistake. This is the first step to learning from your mistake. If you can't accept your mistake, you can't learn from it. 

b) Examine your mistake

The second step, examine your mistake honestly and try to find out what went wrong and how you can rectify it.


c) Practice

After you analyze your mistake, practice the lesson to rectify that mistake. For example, if you analyzed that the mistake had occurred because of your forgetfulness, then pay attention next time in order to rectify your mistake.
